Whether you're a seasoned party planner or embarking on your first hosting adventure, get ready to dazzle with our insider advice from Kayla, a mom, professional party planner and owner of Girly-Girl Parteas. Girly-Girl Parteas is known for their spectacular princess, mermaid, spa and custom themed events, but you don't have to be a pro to host a great get together.

Kayla tells Figgy Play the secret behind a great brunch playdate is two things: a little planning and a whole lot of creativity.

Here are Kayla's six simple tips to ensure both parents and kids have a great time

Choose a Fun and Inclusive Theme: Selecting a theme for your kids' playdate brunch can add tons of excitement and make decorating easier. Choose a theme that is broad enough to appeal to all the children attending, such as a popular children's movie, a color theme, or a simple concept like "fairy garden". Make sure to incorporate elements of the theme into the invitations, decorations, and even the food to fully immerse your guests in the playful world you've created.

Plan Interactive Food Stations: Create a mini-buffet with interactive food stations that both kids and moms will love. Options like a build-your-own parfait station or a mini waffle bar with yummy toppings (like fruit, chocolate chips, and whip cream) allow guests to customize their meals and keep the kids engaged.

Keep Snacks Accessible: Place snacks at kid-friendly heights where they can easily reach for bites between activities. Include healthy options like cut-up fruits and vegetables, cheese sticks, and small sandwiches. This keeps the kids happy and gives moms a chance to relax a bit more.

Set Up Various Play Zones: Designate different areas in your space for various play activities. Have a quiet corner for coloring, a space for sensory play with a themed table or DIY bin, and maybe a reading nook made from a Figgy Play Couch with comfortable cushions and a variety of themed books. This keeps the children entertained and moving around.

Offer Coffee and Refreshments for Moms: Ensure there's plenty of coffee, tea, and perhaps a special mom-friendly beverage like mimosas or a refreshing themed mocktail. This makes the brunch relaxing and enjoyable for the adults as well.

Prepare a Music Playlist: In my experience, music can really help set the mood for the playdate. Prepare a kid-friendly playlist with some popular children’s tunes that can also be enjoyed by moms. Music helps in keeping the energy up and can also be used for impromptu dance parties for little ones.
